South Shore Health is proud to have been named a 2023 WorkWell Massachusetts Awards program winner for the third consecutive year, for exemplary worksite health promotion. The award was presented recently by the Worksite Wellness Council of MA (WWCMA), in partnership with Healthiest Employers. It recognizes South Shore Health’s achievements in providing best-in-class programs and supporting employees through a culture of well-being.
“These organizations are taking it to the next level,” said Archana Kansagra, WWCMA Board Director and founder of the WorkWell MA Awards program. “They are transforming workplace well-being through outstanding programming and innovative solutions that improves the employee experience, builds community, and shares the important message of mental health and well-being within the company culture,” Kansagra said.
“Providing resources to support our colleagues’ health and well-being is essential to ensuring a healthy relationship with work," said Joanne King, Wellness Manager at South Shore Health. “Our goal is to continually assess the success of our well-being programs through colleague feedback, to make adjustments to address ongoing needs, and to maintain a working environment where employee wellness is prioritized.”
King credited the work of both the Human Resources Wellness team and the health system’s volunteer Well-being Committee for their outstanding commitment to creating and promoting these important colleague resources.
Among the ongoing programs highlighted in the awards application are: The Peer Support program, listening sessions, and well-being rounds, as well as art therapy, pet therapy, chair massage, well-being webinars, and the organization’s Employee Assistance Program.
“Working in healthcare today is incredibly challenging, it takes remarkable dedication and steadfast commitment to serving others. This award is not just a testament to our commitment to our colleagues, but also reflects our core belief that healthcare workers deserve comprehensive support for the incredible work they do,” said Dr. Michael Nevarez, Medical Director, Colleague Support and Well-Being, South Shore Health.
The goal of WorkWell MA Awards is not only to recognize outstanding wellness employer programs but also to share best practices across the state.
“It is truly an honor to recognize organizations from Massachusetts that are leading their industry in corporate workplace wellness and uncovering sustainable and meaningful ways to impact the lives of their employees and families,” says Barb Petersen, WWCMA Board Director and Awards & Recognition Committee Co-Chair.
The application, scoring, and benchmarking for the awards program were formed with the help of a national, non-biased group of representatives from the academic, medical, and wellness communities.
