Meet Dr. Dorney, a Gynecologic Oncologist

The Cancer Center’s combined resources enable patients who are suspected or known to have cancers of the female reproductive tract to receive the latest diagnostic tests and treatments available.

Patients who are at high risk of developing those cancers also have access to key cancer screenings focused on early detection and prevention.

Our expert team provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care to patients with proven pre-invasive or invasive gynecologic malignancies.

All specialists involved in the evaluation and management of gynecologic cancers work together to determine the optimal course of treatment for each patient.

Surgeons specializing in oncology, gynecologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, and other clinicians with specialized knowledge of gynecologic malignancies collaborate to develop a tailored treatment plan based on the latest treatment approaches.

Our dedicated and engaged team brings gynecologic cancer care to patients in Weymouth, Quincy, Braintree, Hingham, Norwell, Hanover, Marshfield, Duxbury, Plymouth, and the surrounding areas.

For more information on gynecologic cancer screening, prevention, and treatment, see our Gynecologic Cancer Infographic and our Cervical Cancer Infographic.

Treatment options will vary depending on your type and stage of cancer, and can include:

  • Surgery
    • Complete surgical staging to ensure the most appropriate treatment protocol
    • Thorough evaluation and treatment of pre-invasive vulvar, vaginal, and cervical diseases utilizing colposcopy, laser, and loop electrosurgical excision procedures
    • Advanced, minimally invasive surgical procedures, including robotic-assisted surgery for hysterectomies
    • Comprehensive gynecologic reconstructive procedures
  • Medical Oncology
  • Radiation Oncology
  • Clinical Trials

Screening and early detection play a key role in improving patient outcomes for gynecologic cancers.

Routine physical exams, particularly pelvic exams, are very important.

We encourage all patients to:

  • Talk to your primary care provider about your specific screening guidelines — recommended frequencies for tests can change based on family history and other factors.
  • Maintain appointments for your regular health screenings — don't put them off!

By getting screened regularly, you'll be able to stay on top of any issues that arise.
