Expert care for the South Shore's youngest patients

Pediatrics

At South Shore Medical Center, we've been offering compassionate care for pediatric patients for decades.

It's a privilege to care for the children in our community, from infants through teens heading off to college.

Regardless of age, our mission is the same: to keep your child healthy and well.

With dedicated pediatric providers in Kingston and Norwell, you're never too far from a South Shore Medical Center practice, providing convenient access to care. Each office offers a warm and welcoming team of pediatricians or family medicine providers who care for pediatric patients.

All sites feature on-site x-ray services, while our Norwell practice also features on-site lab services.

Current patients are welcome to log into MyChart to make an appointment, view lab results, message your care providers, and more.

Policies & Procedures

At South Shore Medical Center, we strongly support and endorse the recommended vaccination schedule updated yearly by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We follow and believe in this schedule because of its proven track record of being safe and effective

We not only recommend this for our patients but also follow this for our own children, most of whom are also patients at South Shore Medical Center.

We do not recommend or endorse "Alternative" or delayed vaccination schedules because of the absence of data that support the safety or effectiveness of these delayed schedules.

We are very concerned that by delaying vaccines, our patients will be left unprotected unnecessarily and thus vulnerable to preventable infectious diseases. Additionally, we believe that these alternative schedules will place our most vulnerable patients (newborns and infants too young to be protected or older children with certain chronic illnesses) at increased risk.

Learn more about the CDC's recommended immunization schedule for individuals aged 0-6 years old, 7-18 years old, and 19+ years old.

We do our best to meet the needs of individuals who require same-day sick visits, which requires us to have as many colleagues as possible available to see patients.

As part of our effort to continue to offer this service, we require a 24-hour courtesy notice for all cancellations.

If you make a same-day sick appointment and no longer need it, please call us to cancel so we can use that spot for another patient who may need to be seen.

We know that an illnesses and injuries aren't planned, and that they rarely happen at convenient times.

That's why we offer same-day sick visits across our three pediatric care sites, with plenty of availability to meet the needs of our patients.

For added convenience, same-day sick visits can be scheduled directly in your child's South Shore MyChart account - no phone call required.

We recommend you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow time for registration and to complete any paperwork required.

If you anticipate delays in your arrival, please call our office as soon as possible.

Our goal is to make every attempt to accommodate your late arrival. Based on schedule availability, you will be offered the following accommodations:

  1. Next available appointment of the day with your primary care provider or another member of our team.
  2. Next available appointment on the same day at another site.
  3. Reschedule appointment for a future date and time.

If you need a form or letter for your child to attend school, camp, or play a sport, please contact you child's care team through South Shore MyChart or call the medical center.

Please allow 7-10 days for processing all forms. If the form or letter requires a physical examination, immunizations, or laboratory tests, a nurse will work with you to schedule the necessary appointment.

South Shore MyChart is a patient portal available to patients who wish to view their health information and communicate with their health care providers online.

We strongly encourage all patients to register for a MyChart account, as it makes it easier for you to contact your child's care team, pay your bill, schedule an appointment, and more.

You can register for a MyChart account online, either through the use of an activation code or by requesting an activation code.

If you have any questions or need support from the South Shore MyChart team please call 781-261-4480.

In order to view and manage your child's health information in MyChart, proxy access is required. You can learn more about proxy access and download the applicable forms on the South Shore MyChart page of our website.
